REXON 2024 Supplier Conference: Driving Sustainability and Industry Upgrades

REXON Industrial hosted its 2024 Supplier Conference on January 3, bringing together 119 suppliers under the theme of collaboration and sustainable growth. This year’s conference featured key discussions on quality, productivity, and cost efficiency, with a major highlight being the introduction of REXON’s ESG Sustainability Initiative. Assistant General Manager Mr. Sen-Yuan Hsu presented the company’s ESG achievements over the past three years, emphasizing its commitment to leading sustainable development across its supply chain. Promoting ESG in the Supply Chain Mr. Hsu’s ESG report provided a global perspective on carbon neutrality and emission reduction trends, stressing the importance of ESG from government, customer, and economic standpoints. He outlined REXON’s sustainability roadmap and shared its best practices with suppliers. The company has integrated ESG evaluation into its supplier selection process and has achieved an 80% supplier CSR self-assessment completion rate by 2024. Looking ahead, 30% of suppliers will be required to conduct greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory assessments annually from 2025, preparing for Scope 3 emissions management. A major milestone was REXON’s successful application for the "Large Enterprises Leading Small Enterprises in Low-Carbon Manufacturing Transformation" subsidy from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, alongside 10 key suppliers. Approved in August 2024, the project is expected to reduce 742 tons of CO2 emissions and generate 707 tons of CO2-equivalent green energy, achieving an 8.6% overall carbon reduction. This initiative aims to inspire broader ESG adoption within the supply chain, enhancing collective sustainability competitiveness. Recognizing Outstanding Suppliers The conference also celebrated suppliers' contributions with multiple awards: "Low-Carbon Transformation Partner Award" was presented to the 10 suppliers involved in the low-carbon initiative, recognizing their commitment to sustainable manufacturing. "New Product Collaboration Award" was given to 6 suppliers for their exceptional support in product development. "Quality Excellence Award" honored 6 suppliers for outstanding product quality. "On-Time Delivery Excellence Award" was awarded to 5 suppliers who consistently met delivery commitments. "Supplier of the Year Award" was the highlight, recognizing 9 top-performing suppliers for their outstanding contributions across various criteria, presented by REXON’s General Manager, Mr. Lo. Leading the Industry in ESG and Sustainability REXON’s sustainability efforts have been widely recognized, earning the 17th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award and the Gold Medal for Sustainability Reporting in the Traditional Manufacturing Category. New Green Commuting Option: REXON Industrial Sets Up U-Bike Station for Employees

REXON Industrial continues to promote energy-saving and carbon-reduction policies, aiming to reduce the carbon emissions caused by employee commuting. According to data from 2022 and 2023, REXON Industrial employees collectively emitted 293.4351 tons of CO2e and 355.3844 tons of CO2e from commuting, averaging 0.21 tons and 0.36 tons of CO2e per person per year. To further reduce these emissions, REXON Industrial actively encourages employees to choose low-carbon commuting options. Most REXON Industrial employees live near the company, creating favorable conditions for promoting low-carbon commuting. The company applied to the Transportation Bureau to establish a U-Bike station near REXON Industrial, providing employees with a more eco-friendly commuting option. This initiative not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also enhances employee health and well-being. REXON Industrial believes that businesses should lead the way in energy saving and carbon reduction and will continue to invest resources in promoting various environmental measures to achieve sustainable development goals. In the future, the company will continue to cooperate with the government and society to contribute to a green future.

Annual campus maintenance is an important task for our company. This year, we once again participated in painting at Dali Tucheng Elementary School in May. We painted the exterior walls of 47 classrooms up to a height of 100 cm, which required us to work in a crouched position. Despite this, we were always greeted by a group of curious young onlookers at every recess, enthusiastically interacting with us and observing the painting process. The enthusiasm of the principal, teachers, and students deeply moved us and became our greatest motivation. During the three painting sessions, we not only made the campus environment cleaner but also gained a sense of achievement through interaction and cooperation with the school. This not only strengthened community relationships but also ensured that children could learn happily in a clean environment. In addition to the painting project, we also assisted the school in removing 27 projectors from the classrooms. With the advent of digital televisions, projectors are gradually being replaced, and those hanging from the ceiling tend to accumulate dust, affecting classroom cleanliness. Using our company’s professional skills and equipment, we successfully removed these projectors, further improving classroom cleanliness. We are very pleased to participate in this campus maintenance project, as it was not just a job but also an exchange and growth experience. We look forward to more opportunities in the future to continue contributing to schools and the community, ensuring children have a better learning environment.

At Mrs. Lai's vineyard in Dacheng Township, Changhua County, the rich aroma of grapes fills the air, and the sight of plump grapes meticulously cared for by Mrs. Lai greets visitors. Watching everyone carefully select grapes, trim off the bad parts, brush away dirt, and meticulously bag and package them to deliver to customers is truly heartwarming. Mrs. Lai personally removes the weeds with a sickle, avoiding the noise and diesel fumes of a lawnmower to preserve the serene environment. This land is particularly precious due to the dedicated care of these individuals. Though we are not farmers, we can still think about how to contribute meaningfully to the environment in our daily lives. Everyone can work together to protect this land. Such efforts bring warmth and hope, motivating us to strive for a beautiful future for our environment. During grape season, we support farmers by ordering grapes. Dali Meiqun Elementary School is a campus filled with greenery, requiring significant manpower and time to maintain. During this volunteer task, we cleaned dusty screens, organized storage rooms, cleared silt from ditches, removed vines and long-accumulated algae from the pond, and trimmed weeds and fences on both sides of the school entrance. We also cleaned the ceiling fans in the kindergarten classrooms. Our colleagues felt very happy about this volunteer work, showcasing their value beyond their regular jobs and receiving gratitude and recognition from the school. We thank the company for promoting a green corporate culture, giving us the opportunity to participate in volunteer services and contribute to society. REXON Industrial, committed to corporate sustainability, established the Sustainability Development Committee at its board meeting in November this year. The ESG committee is responsible for planning the company's ESG blueprint and operations.. During the negotiation between REXON and 'SOBRIGHT' for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival gift boxes, the staff mentioned that some of their workers have disabilities, but their hands are capable of normal activities. They place the right people in the right positions, allowing each individual to utilize their strengths. They train individuals with various disabilities to collaborate and complement each other's abilities, doing tasks that they might not be able to do alone. Their dedication and care inspire us to share this love with everyone, wishing you all a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival! This year, extreme weather conditions have been more severe than ever. There was a water shortage in the south at the beginning of the year, and recently, we've experienced bright sunshine in the morning followed by possible heavy rain in the afternoon. This makes us realize the importance of a sustainable environment. For our mailing this time, we've replaced traditional bubble wrap with recycled honeycomb paper for packaging and used eco-friendly plastic bags for outer packaging. Our Mid-Autumn gift selection is filled with love but without excessive packaging, allowing us to send love and also contribute to the environment.

The report was also compiled with reference to the framework provided by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) for climate-related financial disclosures. As the grape season approaches, Lai Mama's grapes are being packed and loaded onto trucks to be delivered to the market. Lai Yue, a single mother, raises four children on her own. With her perseverance, courage, and down-to-earth personality, she tends to the land and cultivates grapes in Dacun Township, Changhua County. On this day, the grapes we ordered have finally arrived at the company. As the back door of the truck opens, a rich aroma of grapes fills the air. Upon opening the boxes, we see plump purple grapes, each one a testament to the meticulous cultivation of the small farmer. The small farmers are also thoughtful, cleaning every gap between the grape clusters before carefully packaging and delivering them to customers. In Taiwan, there are many small farmers like Lai Mama who wholeheartedly protect the land and grow crops with care, treating both people and the land well. By enjoying delicious and trustworthy fruits and vegetables, we can also help motivate small farmers to continue their dedication. Now is the grape season. Have you tasted grapes yet?
