The size of a scroll saw is indicated by throat size-the distance from
the blade to the back of the saw arm. Rexon produce two types of scroll saw: parallel arm
saw and C-arm saw. The parallel arm saw has the arms pivoting separately at the rear of
the frame. It will cut straight up and down, good for extra fine work. The C-arm saw has a
single C-shaped arm pivoting only one point at the down rear side of the frame. Due to
this configuration, it moves in a slight arc and cuts more aggressively.
When choosing a scroll saw, the following factors are normally
considered:
As mentioned above, there are two basic designs for our scroll saws.
If your requirement is for cutting straight up and down, for instance, jig saw puzzles or
stack cutting you need a parallel arm scroll saw. If you want speed, a C-arm saw is
the right choice.
The most popular scroll saws are single speed. However, if you are
regularly cutting different materials other than wood a two speed or a variable speed saw
would be recommended.
It is important to check the size of projects you are likely to be
making before deciding on the size of scroll saw you will purchase.
The cutting stroke is the maximum distance which the arms will move
up and down. Rexon have designed the stroke on their saws to give maximum cutting
efficiency.
It is essential that blade changing is an easy operation. Difficult
systems for blade release can be time consuming. This is particularly true when making
pierce or internal cuts. The quick action tension release and the simple blade vice on the
Rexon saws ensure the easiest blade change possible.
All Rexon scroll saws will accept both pin end and plain end
blades.Pin end blades are very easy to change and good for the beginner to practice with.
They are also good for larger projects like toy making.
The plain end blades tend to be a lot thinner and ideal for finer
more intricate work. A dust blower is supplied to keep the marked cutting line free from
dust and therefore visible. A scroll saw with built in blades storage is a great idea.
The bigger the table, the more support you can give your work piece .A
smooth and clean table will help you to move your work piece and won't’t soil your
finished work. A clean with a good quality wax polish will be useful. The worktable will
tilt to 45º. A very good facility for cutting angles. The variable speed scroll saw
has a table that will tilt both right and left. This makes it an ideal tool for cutting
dovetails.
The arms on the Rexon scroll saw are completely enclosed to ensure
maximum protection. The blade guard is made of the highest quality material to enable
clear undistorted vision. It also doubles as a hold down support. Dust extraction takes
off points are fitted to all machines.
