In its basic form this machine is used to drill centred holes to precise angles and depths. When the drill is equipped with a mortising attachment or sanding drums, it can make square-edged mortises or can be used as a sander. The size of a drill press is expressed in terms of swing. This is twice the distance between the column and the centre of the spindle. There are there types of drill press: bench drill, floor drill, and radial drill. A bench drill press is normally considered if work space is limited. A floor type drill press is the first choice for most professionals. when choosing a drill press, the following features are normally considered: A standard five-speed drill press is adequate for most operations. If a lot of drum sanding or circle cutting is required, a model with more speeds may be considered for minimising burning and tearout. An engineer would prefer a 12-speed drill press which offers a wider range of speeds. Quill travel, or strok length, describes the depths of holes you can drill without altering the table height. It is important that you check the specification of the quill travel to make sure that it meets your needs. The larger the work table, the better support it can provide. Most tables tilt by rotating on a pivot. A rack and pinion cranking mechanism for adjusting table height is preferable, especially for raising heavy projects. When choosing a drill, precision is always the first priority. You would not expect to drill a ø10 mm hole when using a ø8 mm drill bit.At REXON we have been producing drills for over 25 years. Our dedication to high quality standards have made us the largest manufacturer of drilling machines in the world.
